Completely updated both outside and in, the all-new Peugeot 508 is a remarkable evolution of its predecessor. Keeping pace effortlessly with the competition, it exceeds saloon drivers’ expectations both in its sophisticated design and under-the-bonnet performance.
Taking on a chic fastback roofline, the new 508 is inspired by the marque’s popular 5008 SUV. The lower, wider stance confers a sense of aggression and purpose, while the LED daytime running lights add a clarity to the nose that’s bound to catch the eye. This sharper styling is infused with elegance thanks to the frameless doors, rear light bar, and flowing lines.
Stepping inside will leave you no less impressed. The cabin is solidly built with fine materials and attention to detail – the squared off steering wheel and raised dials not only look great, they make for more intuitive driving too. Meanwhile the Peugeot i-Cockpit® is designed to meet your needs without distracting you from the road ahead. Head-up display and a touchscreen enable you to keep abreast of information and entertainment while staying completely focused.
A saloon cannot be class-leading without the provision of comfort. Every aspect of the Peugeot 508’s interior is therefore created to offer maximum relaxation for all. Rear passengers will appreciate the ample legroom, while the model’s new roofline puts little compromise on headroom – six-footers will still find themselves with plenty of space.
The boot is even bigger than before, with a capacity of 487 litres and a hatchback tailgate that makes loading larger items simpler. If you’re carrying more luggage than people, the rear seats fold flat to provide an astounding 1,537 litres of space – a figure that rivals many estate models.
Striking a balance between power and efficiency, the new Peugeot 508 has a selection of engines on offer to suit your driving habits. Long-distance drivers will love the 2.0-litre BlueHDi 160 diesel unit, which delivers a composed and smooth ride at high speeds, as well as excellent economy. If the daily commute takes you mostly around town, there are two petrol options to choose from, each of which is nimble and responsive. If it’s efficiency you want, the 1.5-litre diesel variant is exceptionally economical, beating class rivals with CO2 emissions of just 98g/km.
Executive car drivers expect a fully-equipped vehicle, and the 508 doesn’t disappoint. Entry-level Active models include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, a heated rear window, and start/stop technology. Step up to the Allure trim and you’ll also get heated seats, a reversing camera, and automatic lights and wipers. GT and First Edition models add wireless phone charging and upgraded interior trim.
