The new Peugeot Partner is proving its mettle already, having scooped the prestigious International Van of the Year Award in Hanover, Germany. The accolade was presented in September 2018 – before the van was even launched – and recognised the model’s hardworking attitude, excellent build quality and innovative technology.
The new Partner is available in two different lengths – 4.40m and 4.75m – as well as with a wide variety of engines and equipment. Owners can choose from a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol unit and a selection of diesels, which deliver efficiency of up to 67.3mpg. There are also two variants: the Asphalt for those who spend lots of time on the road, and the Grip for those who frequently tackle difficult environments.
For the first time in a Peugeot van, the manufacturer’s celebrated iCockpit makes an appearance, giving drivers an experience that’s more focused around them. All controls are ergonomically placed, while the compact steering wheel provides a more responsive ride.
The new Peugeot Partner isn’t afraid of hard work either; it’s able to haul up to 1,000kg, with even standard models being able to accommodate two Euro pallets. The optional Loading Pack adds practical touches like enhanced LED lighting in the load area and additional securing rings.
Among the innovations that stood out for judges at the awards, however, were the overload indicator and Surround Rear Vision system. The former is new to the commercial vehicle segment and tells drivers when the van’s maximum load limit has been exceeded. The latter enhances safety, displaying the space around the Partner on a screen so you can park and manoeuvre more effectively.
